Continuous Improvement DNA

When we first opened for business 30 years ago, we started with the objective to provide not only troubleshooting and repair services to our customers but many years of process experience with a knack for identifying safety and inefficiency issues.

Although named by many different terms, the process of observing manufacturing processes and offering solutions that improve the welfare of employees and financially benefit the customer is in our DNA.

Wireless in your Home

Customers ask me often about their tech problems at home. Last week, it was two different instances of home internet wireless issues. As I took the time to write up this checksheet for them, I thought I might as well share it here too.

A New Year Resolution for Maintenance

As a manufacturer have you made your New Year Resolutions yet? Consider the following!

Electrical controls maintenance is often treated as a non-issue. After all, if it ain't broke, why mess with it? Let me share some real-world experience from many years of serving manufacturing customers.

We have had multiple examples through the years of why electrical controls maintenance is necessary to avoid serious downtime. If you can afford the downtime, then feel free to stop reading now.

A continuing fascination for automation

Automated machinery never ceases to amaze and captivate me. Since I started with machine control systems in the 70's the clickety-clack of a sequenced machine has been music to my ears...  a heartbeat that can't be missed. Even through the transition of relays and drum controllers to PLCs and HMIs the unmistakable rhythm of sequenced machinery is the driving force that manufactures our daily needs.

FactoryAutomationPros - What are we doing?

Since 1991 we have been STEM Applications. And we still are but we realized that our name didn't describe to our customers what we did and that the acronym STEM, since 2001, has become increasingly used in the education field. So we took on the trade name FactoryAutomationPros, got the domain name to match in a .com and .ca version and are slowly rolling our new face out this year.

Return to Active Duty

We are pleased to announce that as of August 2018 STEM Applications has returned to service the electrial controls industry after a 5 year hiatus. Resuming the 21 year run this year, we anticipate many great years ahead for ourselves and our customers!
